She made her film debut in the musical comedy Camp. Kendrick is no stranger to comedy and has appeared in several comedy films. Kendrick starred in the action comedy Mr. Right, which premiered in 2015 at the Toronto International Film Festival and was later released on April 8, 2016. Kendrick also starred in The Hollars, a comedy-drama that was directed by and starred John Krasinski. The Hollars premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and was theatrically released in August of 2016. Kendrick was also seen acting opposite Miles Teller in the coming-of-age film called Get a Job. The film received a limited release in March 2016 after being delayed since 2012.

Also in 2016, Kendrick starred in the commercially successful comedy of Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, alongside actors Zac Efron, Adam DeVine, and Aubrey Plaza. Kendrick also voiced the main character of Poppy, in the popular animated film Trolls, and co-starred in the action thriller The Accountant, with Ben Affleck.
