The Supermarket is a wonderful place with so many amazing options to choose from. But there are also some that you might want to stay away from, here is a great food list on the 22 Supermarket Items You Should Leave on the Shelf (and What to Get Instead). Its so easy to just go to the grocery store or supermarket and buy some easy to make food to eat for our meals. But easy is never the best thing for our health. There are also so many different brands and ways to purchase your foods at the grocery store, from purchasing them in a package or in a fresh seafood section or in the deli. But how do we find out exactly how to and what to purchase in an efficient way? This awesome list from Serious Eats shows us just what we should and should not get from the grocery store and why or why not. A list like this can really help us when it comes to doing our weekly shopping, in order to make the best and healthiest options for ourselves and our families.

So what items do you think you should leave on the grocery store shelf? We all know that processed foods are not the best for us, but are there some that we can actually use and be ok with? There actually are, and thanks to this handy list you will know what they are. So what are some of the things you should probably leave on the shelf at the grocery store instead of consuming. One of the more shocking ones I read was the beef broth. Beef broth can't actually have a lot of actual beef in it, and contains high amounts of yeast actually, so what you are getting in the carton or can is not at all that healthy for you. Because of health regulations, there can't be a high content of meat in the soup broth, so there is hardly any of the nutrients. Instead, you can make your own by getting beef bones from the butcher for very cheap or sometimes free. This is the only way to ensure that you are getting the full array of amazing nutrients that come from beef broth. Plus, the canned and packaged soups have tons of sodium in them which is so bad for our overall health.

Another thing that you can do is use actual wine instead of the cooking wine you buy in the grocery store next to the vinegar. The cooking wine has a ton of salt added into it to give it that wine like flavour, so in the long run you are actually better to go with the real deal. You can also have a glass of it to drink with your dinner while you're at it! If you like to eat cheese, especially Ricotta cheese, you might want to check the label before buying it. Usually the stuff we buy in the grocery store is so far from the real deal that you would be better off to make it yourself. They add in so many additives and gums to keep its constancy which is hardly healthy. So instead, make sure you check the label for gums or stabilizers before you choose to bring it home. Serious Eats even has an easy Ricotta cheese recipe you can make right at home! One other thing that you may have noticed is that boneless skinless chicken breasts are super expensive, well you can buy them with the bone in for a much more affordable price and you have the bones too which makes for great chicken broth! So there are just a few of the amazing tips that you can follow to ensure you are getting the most for your money and for your health when you go shopping. Make sure you check all 22 out on the Serious Eats website!
