It's easy to get into a cooking rut, preparing the dinners over and over again, we tend to go to the things we know best, even though we have loads of recipe books and magazines full of recipes. This takes just ten minutes, white bean soup with toasted cheese and tomato, use a can of cannelloni or white beans (drained and rinsed), some white wine, finely chopped shallot, and vegetable broth. Salute the shallots in the olive oil, then puree the beans, wine, shallots and vegetable broth till smooth, heat with some sprigs of fresh rosemary and thyme (which you'll want to remove when finished cooking), butter the bread add some shredded mozzarella and melt cheese in the oven, remove toast and add some sliced roma tomatoes and lots of grated parmesan on top of melted mozzerella, then enjoy.

Rice is a popular addition to main dish recipes or can be used alone as a side dish. It is a favorite staple in many kitchens around the world. Rice may be rinsed repeatedly until the rinse water is clear to improve the texture and taste. Rice may also be soaked to decrease the cooking time, minimize exposure to high temperature, and reduce stickiness. For some rice varieties, soaking improves the texture of the cooked rice by increasing expansion of the grains. Rice may be soaked for 30 minutes up to several hours. Brown rice may be soaked in warm water for 20 hours to stimulate germination. This process, called germinated brown rice activates enzymes and enhances amino acids including gamma aminobutyric acid to improve the nutritional value of brown rice.

Carrots are one of the most popular vegetables, great for school lunches, and added into soups and stews. Carrots are widely used in many cuisines, especially in the preparation of salads, and carrot salads are a tradition in many regional cuisines. The carrot is a root vegetable, which is usually orange in colour, though can be purple, red, white, and yellow. It has a crisp texture when fresh.
