493 Meals In A Jar

Find Your Perfect ONLINE JOB

I love to bake and to give baking as gifts to family and friends. Recently, I was at my sisters house and we had a craving for fresh home-made cookies. Her friend Lara Dauphinee, had given her a bag of "the best cookies ever - cookie mix" as a gift. It basically had all the dry ingredients for making cookies and all we had to do was add the liquid amounts provided on a little recipe card. We had fresh home-made cookies in less than 15 mins and settled down to watch a movie. It was so simple her daughter even helped out. It was an amazing gift idea and I knew it could be done for many things like muffins, breads and dry soup ingredients.

So I did some of my own online research and found a way to give muffin mix in a jar and all you have to do is add the liquid parts. The basic a-b-c of all muffin bases is basically flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground cinnamon and a pinch of ground nutmeg into your jar. Then, to make one (1) dozen Large Muffins you just add the following:

- 2 Eggs

- 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla

- 1 cup of buttermilk

- 1/2 cup of Oil

- 2 3/4 cups of the muffin mix

Once mixed, you fill the muffin tins about 3/4 full with the slightly lumpy batter and bake until golden brown ( about 18-20 minutes). If you can't eat them all, remember muffins freeze well and can be given away to co-workers and friends.

If you think this would be a fabulous gift idea, Rock it Like a Mom's website has a list of 493 of them! Everything for soups, breads, cakes and cookies, you will find something for everyone.
