Reese's Peanut Butter Cups became a North American favorite in the early 1900's after they were created by Harry Burnett Reese. Born in 1879, married in 1900 he and his wife went on to have 16 children. Financially things were not easy and Reese took many jobs to support his family, however in 1917 he took a job at a Dairy Farm owned by Milton S. Hershey and that job would change his life forever. It was during this employment that he moved to Hershey's chocolate factory where he was inspired to make his own chocolate treats.Through the years he made countless chocolate treats that were often named after his children. In the 1920's he set up H.B. Reese Candy Company and in 1928 the Peanut Butter Cup was born. In those days they were often referred to as penny cups because they cost a penny each.So next time you're feeling rushed but you want to create a beautiful dessert, take a moment to reflect on the history of the Peanut Butter Cup itself. Treat this ingredient with the respect it deserves and go forward to wow everyone with your Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake Brownie Crust

Peanuts are a protein filled snack that can be eaten raw, and used in a wide variety of recipes. Peanuts can also be made into oils, textile materials, and peanut butter, along with many other things. Peanut products are considered safe for human use, but many people around the world are highly allergic to this nut. Popular peanut treats you will find made from peanuts can include salted peanuts, peanut butter, peanut brittle, and shelled nuts. Salted peanuts are usually roasted in oil and packed in plastic bags or sealed cans. Dry roasted salted peanuts are also marketed in significant quantities. Peanuts are often a major ingredient in mixed nuts because of their relative low cost compared to other nuts such as walnuts, cashews, Brazil nuts, and almonds. Peanut butter is popular on camping trips and the home due to its high protein content and long shelf life.
