Are you a meticulous cleaner but no matter how hard you try you are not able to get that nasty grease off of your cupboard tops? With this wonderful kitchen tutorial from Hometalk, you can learn How To Clean The Tops Of Greasy Kitchen Cabinets With Baking Soda! Lets face it, how often do we really see the top of our kitchen cupboards? Sure we know that there is probably a heck of a lot of dust and who knows what else up there, but we just continue about our daily lives and don't pay much mind to it. Like the old saying goes, "Out of sight, out of mind." And this is especially true for things like this that you would rather not think about because you would really rather not clean. But there are times when jobs like this just have to get done.

The tops of our cupboards are sometimes a storage space for kitchen appliances we use occasionally, that old crock pot, maybe some cook books and decorative items, or plants, things that you need to store, but that you don't need to get down on a regular basis. I have always wondered why they don't just extend the height of the cupboard instead of leaving all of that excess space, or sometimes they really make it unusable by closing it off entirely with a piece of wood. It might look a bit stylish, but it serves no purpose, and people want to use all of the space they can get. When the top of the cupboard is exposed, it can really accumulate grease that comes from cooking meats or deep-frying on your stove top. It really helps to have an exhaust fan that can carry out the greasy particles so that they don't stick to the walls and surfaces in your kitchen. Overtime this built up grease becomes thicker and thicker as is accumulates and before long, it can seem almost impossible to wipe off with just a simple wet rag.

This is where beloved baking soda and plain white vinegar come in to save the day. In this great tutorial posted on HomeTalk, you can see exactly how the person sprays on some vinegar to the top of the cupboard and then sprinkles some baking soda on top. You may know already that baking soda and vinegar create a chemical reaction when combined, so don't be surprised if you see it starting to fizzle up quite a lot. This helps to break down the grease on the cupboard tops and you only have to let it sit for a short time. The next part is to scrape off all of that grease with a thick plastic card or maybe even a window scraper. You just keep on going scraping and wiping the surface clean until there is nothing left. You can give the cupboard top one more final rinse off before you are through. You might even want to consider placing some paper or mats cut to size up on top of your kitchen cupboards. This would be especially handy if you live in an apartment and don't want to have to wipe them down before you move out. Some landlords will check absolutely EVERYTHING just to take a few dollars off of your damage deposit... So there you have it, a very simple way to clean off grease. You could even use this type of solution to clean off the cupboard doors, and maybe the walls. Maybe even the blinds in your house. All you would have to do is put them in your bathtub and let them soak for a few hours. This is another wonderful, natural solution for cleaning around the house that you can add to your tool belt. Happy Cleaning!
