Have you had a chance to try out peanut butter balls yet? Try out these Cafeteria Peanut Butter Oatmeal Balls! While they go by a multitude of different names, like bliss balls, protein balls, energy balls, etc, they are usually the same type of recipe that involves crushed nuts mixed with other ingredients, to make the perfect bite sized snack. In this recipe the woman who created them, chose to call them by the name, "cafeteria peanut butter oatmeal balls". Well, I am not exactly too sure what these peanut butter balls have to do with the cafeteria, but what I do know is that they have peanut butter and oatmeal in them so they are a super healthy alternative to other potentially fatty treats and granola bars. Plus, they are home made, so you can be sure that you know all of the ingredients that are going into them. These little balls of goodness have been popping up all over the place in recent years, and it's no wonder why... they're delicious! Plus, they are super easy to make, and don't require a ton of ingredients to make.

If you need a snack for on the go, or you just want something on hand to keep you from reaching for the cookies, then, these are definitely the way to go. They are made with a nut butter of your choice, any additional food ingredient, and a sweetener of choice, there are many ways to get creative with these treats. I have made them with almond butter, you can add in chocolate chips, sesame seeds, or any seed for that matter. Go ahead and top it off with some goji berries or other dried fruit for something extra fancy and to give them a really good superfood boost! Regardless of how you choose to customize them, you can bet they are going to be delicious! You can even add in some cocoa powder to make a more decadent version if you feel like it. Or if you're going to be feeding them to your kids, keep it simple with peanut butter and oatmeal so it's a bit less sweet.

I have also made them by processing nuts like walnuts, in a food processor, and then adding in dates for the sweetness, because dates have a low glycemic level, and a great nutritional value with tons of iron and fibre in them. They are a great sweetener to use and you can always add some honey or some maple syrup to it as well, to sweeten it just that little bit more. Then I add some cacao powder, which is really great, and full of magnesium. Some sea salt is added too, and then I just roll them up into nice little balls like the ones here. They are like little raw vegan truffles! They are so good, and do good for you! If you haven't tried these before then prepare to have a new favorite treat in the house!
