Cheesecake goes way back to ancient Greece, when they would eat it with honey and fruit. The Romans then took their recipe and adapted it to their own ingredients and flavour palette. Now there are many variations of how to make cheesecake. Cannoli are Sicilian pastry desserts, that mean little tube, which is appropriate for their shape. Cannoli goes back to the Arabs, during the Emirate of Sicily. They were mostly prepared throughout carnival season and were thought to be a symbol for fertility. There is a legend that also traces them back to the harem of Caltanissetta. But now, they are widely known and made in Italy and in American Italian families as well. What a great combination to out the cannoli and cheese cake together as one dessert, like a hybrid dessert! The photos of it look so delicious and the cake itself looks really beautiful too!
