Meat loaf is one of those things you either love or you don't. I personally have never really loved it... But it was one of my parents favourite meals to make, so it got served at our table more frequently then I would have enjoyed. As well as shepherd's pie which I was not too fond of either. Lots of kids don't really tend to like meatloaf, but this one with the cheese might be a safe bet, because kids tend to like anything with cheese on it. I remember just not liking it because the meat was dry and I didn't like the taste of it, I have never really liked beef, so that would be one other reason why. Many more kids are showing that they don't enjoy eating meat. It's ok if kids don't eat meat, it might even be healthier for some. But you need to make sure that they are getting enough protein from other things.

Meat loaf actually goes way back to the 5th century if you can believe it! Who would have thought it was such an old favourite. It was made with minced meats. It's a Belgian and German dish but it is enjoyed in variations all over the world. Some places they wrap their meatloaf in ham before cooking it, sometimes with a hard boiled egg in the centre, and as we know it in North America, it is served with ketchup or a special sauce. It was actually voted the 7th most popular meal in 2007 in the US! It just shows how many people actually truly love this meal! So this recipe could be a very popular one.
