Why not add this Chicken Stroganoff recipe to your weekly dinner menu? Chicken Stroganoff is a super hearty, savoury meal that can be enjoyed anytime of the year. Many people are familiar with Beef Stroganoff recipes, I recall my grandmother making this when I was a kid, but I have never been a fan of eating beef. So this chicken stroganoff recipe is a wonderful alternative for those who do not like to eat beef or who might simply want a leaner meat option for their meals. Chicken also contains a lot of great protein at around 32 grams of protein per 100 grams. Most people need anywhere from thirty to fifty grams of protein in their daily diet, so as you can see, chicken is a great source for this! Add some vegetables and you have a great balanced meal.

Stroganoff is known around the world and is quite the adaptive recipe. You can see that some recipe adaptations use shrimp or prawns and soy sauce. Stroganoff originated in Russia and first appeared in a recipe book called, A Gift to Young Housewives that was published in 1871. This recipe was quite basic in it's ingredients, and called for beef coated in flour, sauted up in a pan and put into a sauce created with sour cream, bouillon, and mustard. We can also find recipes throughout time that have included tomatoes, onions, and mushroom as common ingredients. This stroganoff recipe calls for chicken, which the author says to make sure is a good cut of chicken, not the breast, as this will dry out too fast while cooking. The goal is also to slowly brown all of the ingredients so that they can ruminate with flavour rather that cause the whole dish to be bland.

So as you can tell already, this is not a meal to make when you are in a hurry to chow down. You will need at least thirty minutes as the author, Marc from No Recipes explains in the recipe blog post. But honestly, thirty minutes for a savoury dish filled with flavour is worth it, and it really isn't a lot of time, so if you can plan ahead and make it, you would be totally fine. The ingredients list for this recipe is fairly basic as well, which is always nice to see. All that is needed is the chicken, of course; this recipe calls for boneless, skinless chicken thighs that are very easy to come by and are also very affordable. Flour and butter are also needed, which is what the chicken will be browned up in. Then you will also need button mushrooms, which can be brown or white, onion, vermouth, chicken stock, tomato paste, bay leaf, thyme and last but not least, sour cream, to give the sauce that nice, creamy texture.

The recipe shown on No Recipes comes with excellent photos that show the step by step process of the recipe. This is very handy so that you know what to look for in each and every step. Sometimes when you are just following a recipe, it can be confusing to know what the food is supposed to look like after each step, so this ensures that you will know every step of the way. What you will be left with at the end of this recipe is a beautiful, flavourful and aromatic dish that will please all of the senses. Many people enjoy serving stroganoff recipes over egg noodles, but it can also be served with rice or your preferred pasta. The broader noodles help to catch all of the sauce, so you get a delicious bite of flavour with each forkful. Try this great chicken stroganoff recipe out soon!
