There are many dessert recipes for chocolate cake online, and chocolate cake tends to be a favourite cake flavour for many people. There are different styles of chocolate cakes too, like Devil's Food Cake, the rich and delicious counterpart to Angel Food Cake, which is the lighter version of a cake recipe. There is also a famous egg free and dairy free chocolate cake recipe that was created during the great depression that is vegan, called the Crazy Cake or Wacky Cake. The cake replaces the egg for oil and there is even some baking soda and vinegar in the cake to make it light and fluffy. A very unique version of a chocolate cake recipe would be the Red Velvet Cake which, as it's name entails, is red in colour, but tastes like a rich chocolate cake with cream cheese icing instead of chocolate frosting.

With this chocolate cake recipe, you get the best of both icing flavours, a rich, chocolate icing, and a creamy whipped filling. The original Twinkie is made with a yellow sponge cake with a creamy filling. The cakes are served as a pair of single serving cake rolls in a plastic wrapper, with a piece of cardboard underneath to keep the shape. Twinkies were invented in the US, in Illinois to be exact, by a baker working at the Continental Baking Company which was also known to produce Hostess products. He had the idea while he was out delivering orders to shops, of creating a banana cream filled cake that could be sold very inexpensively. The first banana cream Twinkies were sold for only a few cents. But unfortunately World War 2 brought the rationing of foods including bananas, so they had to change the recipe up. They simply took the banana out of the cream and just left it as a plain vanilla cream filling. They brought back the banana filling and a strawberry filling over the years which was also popular, and now they even have a key lime flavour. Different versions of Twinkies are sold all around the world, made by different companies.

As Twinkies customers began to eat healthier foods, taking the treats out of their lifestyles, Hostess noticed a huge drop in their sales, which caused them to file for protected bankruptcy to close and sell off their business. It was a sad day for many Twinkies fans when Hostess announced they would stop making the beloved treats in 2012, and then stopped making them altogether. Not even a year later, in 2013, Hostess was purchased by another company who began selling Twinkies again.
