The instructions on some other methods only apply to stainless steel cookware, not to anodized aluminum or Teflon-coated pots and pans. Teflon can safely go in the dishwasher if you're lucky enough to have one of those fine appliances, but anodized aluminum should only be hand washed using soap and hot water.
