Ice cream cakes are awesome to have for birthday parties, and usually everyone seems to love them. You can always opt to do it the easy way, and buy a pre made cake at a Dairy Queen, or at the Marble Slab or Baskin Robins, but why not try and make your very own ice cream cake yourself, at home? You don't even need to make the ice cream if you don't want to, you can just buy that pre made. But if you want to get super ambitious, you can always go ahead an make your own, of course! Ice cream has been around for over one hundred years. There were certain recipes for cream desserts that were created before we had refrigeration processes. Then once there were refrigerators, and freezers more desserts were created through having another means to set the desserts and keep them from melting.

If you love ice cream cakes, this cookies and cream cake is the one for you! This gorgeous cookies and cream Oreo ice cream cake is a rich and creamy double layer cookies and cream ice cream cake topped with lots of Oreo cookies, Tim Tam chocolate biscuits and whipped cream. This cake would be ideal for serving at a summer Birthday party or anytime of the year for that matter, your friends and family won't believe you made it on your own and they may think that you got it from the store! To start you will want to set out the chocolate and vanilla ice cream on the kitchen counter until they get nice and soft, while you are waiting for this to happen you can make the soft Oreo crust and press it gently into the bottom and lower sides of a six inch springform pan (you can modify the recipe to make a larger version if needed).
