Cordon Bleu Chicken Nuggets
Before we direct you to the recipe for the perfect ďCordon Bleu Chicken Nuggets,Ē allow us to first give you some interesting facts about this dish. Basically any meat that is wrapped in cheese, then breaded and fried is what you call a Cordon Bleu. It originated in Switzerland as a schnitzel with cheese in it. The year was around the 1940ís when it was discovered and it was first documented in a cookbook back in 1949. Its discovery lead to many different versions of it like the Chicken Cordon Bleu, which even made the pages of The New York Times in 1967.
Other variations now include ham, bacon and some have even incorporated fish. The cheese melting inside the breading and meat is what makes it so irresistible. For those who are on a strict diet, baking this is also an option instead of frying which involves a lot of grease or oil. But if you want to gain some weight, you could also do it with ham or bacon wrapped around the chicken, without using bread crumbs to envelope it. Although itís still best to use some breading to make it crispier, itís all up to you on how you want your version cooked.
For this particular recipe, you will only need some chicken breasts, flour, salt and pepper, egg, water, breadcrumbs, deli ham and some Swiss cheese. These are all easy to find in the supermarket and you probably even have some of the ingredients in your kitchen. A lot of people think itís expensive to make this because it does sound like a pricey gourmet dish, but the truth is that itís affordable. The whole process of cooking won't make you sweat.
