If you've ever experienced traditional Italian dessert recipes, you know they are a quality all of their own. If you've never tried to make your cream puffs, now is the time to start, because these cream puff recipes are worth their weight in gold. Cream puffs aren't as difficult as you might think; you'll want to give them a try.

The recipe for this cream puff recipe comes from Naples Frank, and it calls for basic whole ingredients like heavy cream, vanilla, confectioners sugar, water and butter. You will also need butter, flour, salt, and eggs. To make the cream puff pastry recipe, you will start with some water and butter in a medium sized saucepan. Then you will add some flour and salt. Mix the ingredients together with a wooden spoon until the dough begins to form into a ball. Then transfer the cream puff dough to a stand mixer. Using the beater blade attachment, beat the eggs into the cream puff dough one at a time. Then transfer the cream puff dough into a pastry bag that has a plain tip. Then squeeze some of the cream puff dough onto a parchment lined baking sheet. With a wet finger smooth out the point formed by the pastry bag on each of the cream puff. Then bake in a preheated 425-degree oven for approximately 22 minutes. When the cream puffs cool, slice them and fill them with the delicious whipped cream, and sprinkle with confectioners sugar.

To make the whipped cream part of the recipe start with a bowl and add your heavy cream and whip with a whisk. You can also use your stand mixer or hand mixer for this as hand mixing can take a bit. If you want to do it like Nonna, stick to the whisk, it's a good workout! When the heavy cream starts to thicken you can add the vanilla and whisk until fluffy. Then add the confectioners sugar and keep whisking until incorporated into the whipped cream. Then place the whipped cream in a pastry bag, and pipe into the cooled cream puffs. If you don't have a pastry bag, you can just use a ziplock bag and cut off a corner to make the tip. On the site you will find other Italian cream puff recipes to include a Brioche Con Crema recipe, a different on the above cream puff recipe and a cream-filled profiteroles (cream puff) recipe to try out.
