Disneyland Dole Whip

For those of you that have not been to Disneyland, we have a delicious treat to tell you about. Its called 'Disneyland Dole Whip'. Disneyland has a first class delux resort called the Disney's Polynesian Resort. They offer palm trees, a sparking pool, Hawaiian must and it is a fabulous place to stay. One of the food items found there is the 'Dole Whip'.

What is it? It is a non-dairy frozen dessert. It is made from puree and reconstituted with water. It is then frozen prior to serving. Dole Whip at this resort is available in pineapple, vanilla and orange flavors. Dole Whip can also be combined with pineapple juice and yes what is created is one of the tastiest 'floats' in the world!

Pineapple is the main ingredient in the recipe we are going to share with you. Likely you know how pineapples grow, but for those that do not, pineapples do not grow on trees. Rather, they grow off the ground off of a leafy plant. The pineapple grows off the top of the central stem. Pineapples are not grown from seeds, rather, the crown of the pineapple fruit contains small roots. This crown when planted will develope into a mature plant. The plant also has suckers which are side shoots. These suckers can also produce new plants when planted.

A pineapple plant can fruit three times in its lifecycle. Pineapples that are grown in their optimal environment will set their fruit in as little as 16 months but it can take 24-28 months.

Pineapples make an exceptional juice alive with tropical flavor. They are an excellent source of Vitamin C and manganese. They also contain a good souce of copper, vistamin B1,B6, fibre, folate and pantothenic acid.
