DIY Outdoor Pallet Sofa

Outdoor furniture is a must in the summer season. We need that place to sit back and put up our feet as we enjoy the lazy days of summer. It is here that we can catch the cool night breeze and watch the sun set. Conversations and meals are enjoyed in the great outdoors as the weather warms and the daylight is longer. As lightning dances and flashes across the sky, we can get a terrific view from our outdoor pallet sofa. There's plenty of room for the young ones to cuddle up to Dad and Mom as we ooh and awe at the amazing night sky.

It doesn't have to cost a fortune to have the furnishings for the great outdoors. With some ingenuity, creativity and some elbow grease you can make your own! Reusing and refurbishing are terrific ways to accomplish this. Based on a pallet design by Donna at Funky Junk, Laura and hubby built one of their own. Scavenging pallets used by local university students moving into the nearby neighborhood, the arms of an old futon and some frame work pieces purchased at Home Depot, their outdoor sofa is born! Topped off with some funky pillows, this piece is awesome!

I love the way they used different colored pieces of wood on the seat as well the varying lengths on the back! Another cool touch was leaving the stamps and markings on the wood. Sealing the sofa with a clear coat allows the unique color variations and markings to be seen. Rustic and country, this an awesome do it yourself project!
