Growing up, I have always loved baking cakes and desserts and learned to cook with my mom showing me the recipes and steps, in many cases the cakes I baked had many steps and were easy to mess up. I grew up thinking that baking a cake recipe was very complex and required a whole day of work to do properly, although in hindsight it all depends on which cake recipe you are using. I wish I had known about this do nothing cake recipe, as it makes baking a cake a breeze by narrowing down the ingredients and cooking process to the simplest form possible. All while maintaining a sweet and savory flavour that is sure to be an instant crowd pleaser.

The ingredient you will need for this do nothing cake recipe include all purpose flour, granulated sugar, lightly beaten eggs, baking soda, salt, and crushed pineapple with juice. The ingredients you will need for the icing recipe include butter, sugar, evaporated milk, chopped walnuts or pecans, and coconut.

To start preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then in a large bowl whisk together all the cake ingredients until they are just combined. Then pour the cake mixture into a greased 13 by 9 baking pan, and bake for approximately 30 to 40 minutes or until a wooden toothpick, inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean. Be mindful not to overbake the cake. When the cake is baking, prepare the frosting recipe. Then heat the butter, sugar and evaporated milk in a small pot until boiling. Then cook and stir for approximately five minutes, or until it is slightly thickened. Then remove the mixture from heat and add in the coconut and chopped pecans.

Remove the cake from the oven, and then using a kabob skewer or wooden spoon handle, start poking holes into the cake. You need to poke the holes so that hot frosting has plenty of room to get down and soak into the cake. Then pour the frosting over the hot cake, making sure to spread it out so it's evenly dispersed. Then allow the cake to cool for a bit before cutting. This cake recipe is very moist because of all the frosting that seeps into the cake.
