This English toffee recipe with crunchy almonds and creamy chocolate is like something that you would buy at the local candy shop in a candy recipe that you can make on your own. The nice thing about this homemade English toffee recipe is it doesn't take a lot of ingredients or time to make. The ingredients you will need for this candy recipe include some whole raw almonds, butter cut into one inch cubes, sugar, salt, vanilla, chocolate chips and some finely chopped pecans.

To start this homemade English toffee recipe, you will want to have all of your ingredients measured out and ready to use. Then start by placing your almonds on a plate and microwave them for a few minutes on high to toast them. Then line a baking pan with some foil and place the almonds in a single layer on the aluminum foil. Next add the sugar, butter, vanilla, and salt to a large sized sauce pan and melt the ingredients over medium heat, stirring continuously. Then when the ingredients are completely melted stir and gradually increase the heat to medium-high. Keep stirring the ingredients until the toffee becomes a nice golden brown color. When the toffee reaches the right color, you want to quickly pour the mixture over top the almonds in the prepared pan.

Then allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes, and sprinkle with the chocolate chips. Next, to site for a few minutes until the chocolate chips are melted, then spread over the toffee. You can then sprinkle with some chopped pecans and allow them to cool completely. You can also put in the fridge to speed up the process. When the chocolate and toffee have completely cooled, you can use a butter knife to break the toffee apart. Store the toffee in an airtight container at room temperature.
