This "How to make an INSTAGRAM cake!" might just be the coolest cake recipe you've ever seen! By now most people are familiar with the popular photo sharing site that over four hundred million people actively use each month. Yes, you read that correctly over 400,000,000 users, wow! So this cake will most likely be recognizable to a few people out there. That's a whole lot of photo sharing.

This cake is a fun take on the site, with lots of colors and a design that people will love. This cake recipe idea does need a few days to make as you need to allow it time to freeze between colors. The nice thing is that once when done, you can leave it in the freezer until you are ready to use it, and all you have to do at that point is take it out of the freezer, make the glaze and garnish it while leaving it in the fridge to defrost.

For the rainbow jello layer. The colors that you see in this cake recipe are some colored jello packets mixed in with some cream. So you will need some strawberry jello for the red, some lime jello for the green, some mango jello for the yellow, and some berry blue jello for the blue. Now to get the fun Instagram logo effect, you will need to make each jello layer separately. Start by mixing the jello and the cream together and heat in a sauce pan, until the ingredients are boiling. Then pour the first layer of jello into a rectangular container that has been lined with some aluminum foil. Do not pour the whole jello mixture in. Then you can either leave the jello to set and begin to make your next layer in the same manner, leaving it to cool at room temperature and then pouring, or you can take a peek at the recipe video tutorial to speed this little process up. You want to be sure that when you add each new layer it is not too warm, or the layer underneath will melt. Then you will leave the whole thing to freeze overnight.

Now to move onto the lens and the viewfinder of the Instagram cake recipe. For this part of the cake recipe, the creator tried a few different recipes and didn't seem to have much success. What she finally ended up doing was to make a chocolate cake recipe, making it flat and then cutting in some circles of cake and lining them up to make the cylinder shape that was needed for the cake. Then you can cut out a long rectangular shape to make the viewfinder.

Then you can take your rectangular container, and on a sheet of paper draw the Instagram logo in the right size for the cake, lining it up with the outside of the container to use as a guide, so you know how much mousse you need.

At this point, you can take your lovely rainbow jello out of the freezer and take it out of the dish. If it doesn't want to budge, try filling the sink with some hot water for about thirty seconds (make sure not to get any water into the dessert). Then using a sharp knife cut a slice from the center of the jello, in the right size for the colored logo part of the design. Then put the logo in place in the container and put it back into the freezer again so you ca start your mousse. This cake does have quite a lot of steps to it but imagine how impressed your friends and family will be. A great cake to use at birthday parties or gatherings.
