The things that you need are six apples (preferably small apples), 1/2 dozen of skewers, a pot, pastry brush, bowl for water and for topping, a candy thermometer, baking sheet, 1/2 cup of light corn syrup, 2 cup of sugar, 3/4 cup of water, toppings like toffee, chocolate chips, jelly bears and candy corn and food coloring of your choice but it is optional. Get your apples and spear through the center and set aside. Prepare your syrup. Dissolve the sugar on a medium - high heat but if you are using brown sugar then reduce heat to medium - low. After that, place the pot in a cold water bath so the sugar will stop cooking further.
