Have you ever heard Todd from Todd's Kitchen? In his short and very useful little video he shows you how to make caramel in a microwave. Caramel is delicious dessert that can be used for dessert toppings, or also on it's own as a special treat. The process of caramelization is composed of heating a sugar slowly to a 170 degrees Celsius. As the sugar is put into heat, the molecules break down as well as the compounds are reformed changing its colour and flavour.

If you love caramel and all the delicious ways that it can be eaten, then this short video clip will be of interest to you. Now don't kid yourself, caramel is packed with sugar of basically every kind! Did you know that sugar, although found in most plants is generally processed and made into baking sugar from both beets and sugar cane?

Ingredients on how to make a caramel

- 1/2 cup corn syrup

- 1/4 cup melted butter

- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

- 1/8 teaspoon salt

- 1/2 cup white sugar

- 1/2 cup brown sugar

Procedure:

Begin by pouring the corn soup, butter and condensed milk into a microwave safe bowl. Whisk in the salt, white sugar and brown sugar. Mix well and place it in your microwave on high heat for 6 minutes BUT remember that every 2 minutes you must take the bowl out and stir it well. Line a baking dish with baking paper that is overhanging and use oven mitts in order to pour the caramel into the baking dish. Place it into the fridge until set. Wash your bowl right away so that it is easier to clean and pull the paper out of the dish and remove from caramel. Cut it into bite sized pieces and share it to your friends. Enjoy!
