"A Contemporary Wooden Cottage By Prodesi" faces the Sazava River in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. This tiny house was built with the intention to serve as a weekend and summer vacation home. An old tiny house on the property was too beyond repair to fix and was taken off the site, which left behind a stone basement. That is when Architect Pavel Horák of Czech studio Prodesi designed this new tiny cottage to sit on the old original foundation, while gaining space by cantilevering the floor on three sides.
The 1,432 square foot cottage has a gable roofed on the main part of the tiny house, and there are projecting wings on either side of the tiny house that gives it a cross shaped floor plan. The roof also extends to create a covered terrace which gives amazing views of the rear yard and river. The exterior of this contemporary wooden cottage is clad with untreated larch boards that are applied vertically, along with a standing seam metal roof. The gray metal used on the house is as an accent on the walls. The architect designed the tiny floor plan with the kitchen, bathroom and utility rooms lined up along the road side, which leaves the view side free for the social spaces of the tiny house to enjoy the outside views. The ground floor walls of the tiny house on the river side are almost entirely glass to also maximize the views. For privacy, there are no windows on the sides facing the neighbors, and only a few narrow strips of windows facing the road. Everything about this tiny house was well thought out, and what views would work best in each room, so the interior and the exterior of the tiny house blend beautifully.
Then just off of the living room space is a spacious entry vestibule. So when visitors enter the tiny cottage, they are immediately presented with a stunning view of the river from a floor to ceiling window, right off you are given this incredible view, that makes the tiny space feel even larger. In the cold weather the vestibule can be closed off from the living room space with a pair of large sliding doors, but otherwise it can be used as part of the living area. The centrally located stair leads up to the two bedrooms.
