Leonard Simon Nimoy, and as we all know and love him, Spock, recently passed today February 27th, 2015. Mr. Nimoy was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 26th, 1931, making him 83 years old when he passed. The cause of his death was from complications due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Mr. Nimoy was well known for his role as Spock on the long time loved series, Star Trek, but was also well known throughout his life for his work as a directory, poet, photographer, singer and songwriter.

If you did not already know, Spock was named as one of the greatest 50 TV characters by TV Guide. The identifications of this role by the man himself is well documented in his two autobiographies. One is called 'I Am Not Spock", and then 20 years later he wrote a 2nd one called "I am Spock". From such a great role, it is only natural that the actor go through an identity crisis and if the character is famous enough, which Spock was, the actor will have to learn to live with this role following him for his entire life. After his successful career working as Spock, he went on to do more acting. He has an excellent career in voice over working on shows like Transformers (he was Galvatron!) and other famous films.

In 2003, Nimoy retired from acting and pursued another great love; photography. Regardless of his retirement he was still to be found all over the entertainment industry from voice overs to commercials to writing plays. Of course, the 2009 Star Trek young Spock, was approved by the original himself.

Mr. Leonard Simon Nimoy has a most impressive list of accomplishments from a fully lived life. We are sad to see him leave this earth, but he will live on in the beautiful work that he left this planet.
