You may want to test a little bit of vinegar on your faucets, just to see how it reacts to the metal. Just take some vinegar and fill a bowl up with it, then get a rag or cloth that's big enough to wrap around your faucet and soak it in the vinegar in the bowl. Make sure the towel is really saturated with vinegar and then wrap it around your faucet, especially at the bottom of the faucet where the hard water deposits accumulate. Leave that to sit for at least an hour or overnight. The vinegar will break down the hard water build up by eating away at the hard water deposits. The vinegar will actually break down the minerals since it's very acidic. Remove the vinegar towel and then wipe away the build up. Use a softer scrubbing pad to scrub away any of the build up that's crusted on there, and you can even use an old toothbrush to get into the cracks. You can repeat the soaking if there are still hard water stains on the faucet, and then scrub some more. When you're happy with the results, just rinse the area with water and then dry with a clean, dry cloth.
