It's difficult to imagine life without pasta. Pasta is a staple food of traditional Italian cuisine, with the first origins dating back to 1154 in Sicily. Pasta is commonly used to refer to a wide variety of pasta recipes. Most dried pasta varieties are commercially produced via an extrusion process. While fresh pasta was traditionally produced by hand, sometimes with the aid of simple machines, fresh pasta is still made today but usually with the help of machines. There are approximately 310 different types of pasta, available in both dried and fresh pasta varieties.
