The featured recipe here is for Snickers Caramel Apple Salad. Now I eat a lot of salads and have heard of many types but this one is new for me, and as you see in the photo, it is most definitely a dessert salad.
This recipes includes fresh apples along with the snickers, vanilla pudding, milk, cool whip and caramel ice cream topping. So okay, for those that are not looking for ultra easy, ultra sweet, this may not be for you.
You do have to admit the combination is very intriguing. There is no doubt this dessert will be passionately devoured by the crowds of people that love all the ingredients that go into it.
So no criticisms here and each to their own tastes and baking techniques. Our purpose is to introduce you to fantastic recipes. I love the concept of this recipe, but being a bit more of a make it from scratch type of baker, the only thing I would do is substitute stabilized whipping cream for the cool whip.
Choosing the perfect apple would be on my list as well. This recipe calls for Red Delicious that is a great choice as it is a crispy, juicy apple. Some other varieties that would be perfect in this dessert would be Braeburn, Fuji, Gala, Golden Delicious and Honeycrisp.
Apples are a nutritious fruit and the old saying 'An Apple A Day Keeps the Doctor Away' is for good reason. Okay, obviously you cannot eat this delectable dessert everyday, but eating apples and feeding your children fresh apples is a good food choice.
Apples are rich in Vitamin A, the B vitamin family, Vitamin C, E, K, and Fiber. Did you realize that apples have antiviral properties? Apples detoxify the body and have many micro nutrients.
It may be a dessert, but you can always say that the apples are good for you! Enjoy and everything in moderation!
