Stephen King's The Mist TV series: Watch the first trailer

Stephen King fans will be excited to see the new trending video of the new TV adaptation of Stephen King's The Mist. The trending video shows that the characters have as much to fear about what's within themselves as they do with the creature roaming in the fog. Spike has just released the new trailer for the series, which is set to debut June 22. New show creator Christian Torpe, wanted to be respectful to the source material, referencing the 2007 film adaptation with the infamous ending. Frank Darabont, is the director of the 2007 film. One of the things you will notice with the new tv adaptation is that the grocery store is gone, where the residents of the small town take shelter from the beasts outside and unleash the sinister qualities within themselves. The new series will instead be spread out over several lockdown locations, to include a church and a mall where hundreds of people have holed up against the monsters.

One of the main characters in the new television series is Eve Copeland who is played by Alyssa Sutherland of Vikings. Copeland plays a school teacher whose sex-ed class has sparked some controversy in town and revived some old gossip about her past. The character was a bit of a wild child, and the small town still holds her sexuality against her. There's a lot of misogyny under the characters surface. And Eve's husband Kevin, is played by Morgan Spector, is a prototypical nice guy. Kevin is a modern-day, liberal man who believes in all the right values of kindness and forgiveness, but they're easy values for him. This is a character who has never been tested. And the couple's daughter, Alex, played by Gus Birney has always played by the rules, unlike her mother, but she is beginning to develop a new rebellious streak just as a supernatural evil begins to make its presence in town.

The Mist is a horror novella by American author Stephen King. The story is about the small town of Bridgton, Maine that is suddenly enveloped in an unnatural mist that conceals otherworldly monsters. The book was first published as the first and the longest story of the horror anthology Dark Forces in 1980. A slightly edited version was included in Stephen King's collection Skeleton Crew released in 1985. The fictional story is the longest entry in Skeleton Crew and occupies the first 134 pages. To coincide with the theatrical release of the film that was based on the novella, The Mist was republished as a stand-alone paperback book by Signet on October 2, 2007. Stephen King, in the Notes section of Skeleton Crew, says that The Mist was inspired by a real life experience about a massive thunderstorm much like the one that opens the story that occurred where King lived at the time. The day after the thunderstorm, King went to a local supermarket with his son. While the two were looking for hot dog buns, King imagined a big prehistoric flying reptile flapping itself around the store. By the time the two were in line to pay for their purchases, King had the basis for his new story about survivors trapped in a supermarket surrounded by unknown creatures. When the characters in the book experience the unusual spring weather which precedes the big storm, some of the characters make reference to the real-life Great Blizzard of 1888, which devastated much of the northeastern United States.
