Strawberries and Cream Pastries
This strawberries and cream pastries recipe looks as great as it tastes! The light and crispy puff pastry baked until golden brown, and the cream cheese, strawberry filling still warm when they are ready to eat. Sounds just about perfect. This recipe would be a great to serve for breakfast, so much healthier than the premade toaster streusels that you can buy. This dessert recipe is nice and easy to do. To start, you will need to thaw out your puff pastry from the freezer, look on the package to see how long that should take. The ingredients you will need for this strawberries and cream pastries recipe include puff pastry thawed and rolled flat, some hulled and diced strawberries, sugar, vanilla, softened cream cheese and egg.
To start, place the diced strawberries in a medium sized bowl and toss with some sugar to coat and set aside. Then in a small bowl add the softened cream cheese (you want it to be soft, so you can microwave if you need to), vanilla and sugar. Beat well with an electric mixer or a fork.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then with the puff pastry dough rolled out, cut each piece into fourths. Just think you should have four rectangles out of each piece of puff pastry. Then make one-inch cuts that are along both sides of the puff pastry rectangles, while leaving about two inches in the center so you can place the filling.
Spread some of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each piece, and then add some of the strawberry mixture on top of that. Then starting at one end, wrap your cut pieces into the center, crossing as you go. Once you start you will get the hang of it. Place the puff strawberry pastries on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper. Then brush with the beaten egg on the tops and sides of the pastries. Sprinkle with some sugar over top. Place the pan in the oven and bake for approximately 20 to 25 minutes. You'll know they are done when the tops start to turn a nice golden brown.
