Bookworms and book lovers would probably know whose George R.R.Martin and the books he had written. George Raymond Richard Martin was born on September 20, 1948 in Bayonne, New Jersey. Yeah right! He is 66 years old, and amazingly writes various fantasy, horror and science fiction genres. Have you read one of his famous books "A Song of Ice and Fire'? How about the international best-selling series of an epic fantasy novel in HBO, a drama series "Game of Thrones".

At an early age, Martin became a voracious reader. He began writing monster stories and sell it for pennies to his neighbourhood. He attended Mary Jane Donohoe School and then Marist High School. In the year 1970, he earned B.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois and graduated as summa cum laude. At the early age of 21, he began selling science fiction short stories titled "Hero" that was sold to Galaxy magazine and published in February 1971 issue.

Aside from his famous written books, Martin also wrote the following books:

1) Tales of Dunk and Egg (1998-2010)

The stories pertain to the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, who became a legendary member of Kingsguard and his esquire Egg, who in the long run became the Kind of the Seven Kingdoms.

2) The Princess and the Queen (2013)

It is about the story of the civil war or also known as Dance of the Dragons by Archmaester Gyldayn of the Citadel of Oldtown. It replaced the fourth in the series of "Dunk and Egg".

3) Tuf Voyaging (1986)

The book is all about a darkly comic meditation on absolute power and environmentalism.

4) Meathouse Man (1976)

It is a darkly poignant tale set in a cluster of planets called corpse worlds. This comic contains explicit contents; therefore this is intended for mature readers only.

5) The Second Kind of Loneliness (1972)

The book is about a man assigned to operate the Cerberus Star Ring, a method to describe a rapid travel from one end of the universe. The story focuses on loneliness and the madness he feels while being isolated, waiting for his replacement.

6) With Morning Comes Mistfall (1976)

The novel pertains to a main theme, a clash between two views of the world. One very logical, physical, pragmatic and the other is spiritual and romantic.

7) The Ice Dragon (1980)

This book is about an unforgettable tale of love, courage, and sacrifice.

8) The Pear-Shaped Man (1991)

It is a pure psychological horror book that makes you consistently feel creepy from the beginning till the end.

9) A Song for Lya (1975)

A deeply emotional story that explores and explains the meaning of love, vulnerability, and commitment whether we can easily know another person.

10) Sandkings (1979).

A very satisfying book that you'll eventually have to read.
