This Gulf Crab Cakes with Lemon Butter Recipe is a great addition to dinner, or you can bring them along for a potluck with family and friends. You'll want to make sure you handle the delicate mixture carefully until the chilling process helps to hold the cakes together during cooking. Some of the ingredients you will need for this recipe include finely diced red bell pepper, finely diced green bell pepper, finely diced yellow onion, mince garlic, extra virgin olive oil and Dijon mustard. You will also need Worcestershire sauce, kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, ground red pepper, dry breadcrumbs, lightly beaten eggs, fresh lump crabmeat, minced green onions, butter and lemon butter.

To start to saute the bell peppers, yellow onion and garlic in some hot oil over medium-high heat for about 8 to 10 minutes or until tender. Then stir in the mustard and the next four ingredients. Then add the breadcrumbs, and saute for about a minute. Transfer the mixture to a large bowl and let cool. Then fold the eggs into the breadcrumb mixture until blended. Gently stir in the crabmeat and green onions, and shape into crab cakes. Cover and chill for approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Then melt some butter with some oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Then add the crab cakes to a frying pan and cook 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until they are nicely browned. Remove from the frying pan, and keep warm in a 200 degree Fahrenheit oven. Repeat the procedure with the remaining oil, butter, and crab cakes, wiping the frying pan clean after each batch. Serve with some lemon butter.
