Leeks are a great substitute for recipe that requires onions like stir fry recipes, soup recipes, and stew recipes.

Leeks have a slightly sweeter, garlicky flavor that will their elegant shape make them excellent for roasting. To roast leeks for a recipe simply halve the bottom portion of the leek after rinsing, rub with oil and season before slow-roasting.
