The nice thing about their diy projects is that they usually don't cost too much either so you can save some money while you're organising your home. Keeping your home organised is key to having a functional space. Everything will have it's place and will be right where you need it to be when you need it. Especially in a smaller space, you need all of the storage you can get, so it's great to have diy ideas like this to help you along the way. These are just some of the 30 fun ways to keep your home organised from Hometalk.

1. Use metal desk organisers in various places to organise your items. You can attach them to the inside of your cabinet doors, or use them to store canned food and even vegetables in. They'll keep items like Tupperware lids and cleaning supplies handy, so you don't have to go searching in your large cabinets for them.

2. If you or someone else in your household has a hefty nail polish collection, there's a great tutorial for a nail polish storage rack made from wood on the list. You just use pieces of plywood nailed together to create a simple display box. You can stain or paint it any colour you like, and it'll last for years.

3. Makeover a metal filing cabinet with some craft wood to make it look like a classy piece of furniture. All you need to do is get yourself a metal filing cabinet or two, however many you need. You can find these at thrift stores for fairly affordable prices or at your local office supply store brand new for a bit more. You take craft board and glue it onto the faces of the filing cabinet drawers and clamp them in place until they dry, and then you just prime and paint the entire drawer unit with whatever colour you like best. Then just add some pulls you like, and you're all done. These could be used as filing cabinets in your office, or as side tables in your living room or even in the bedroom.

4. Organise all of your brooms, mops, dust pans and more by hanging them instead of just leaving them on the floor. Take a hanger and some shower curtain hoops, and hook your cleaning tools up by hooking the hoops through the hole at the top of the tool.

5. Use plastic drawers under your sink to store dish towels and scrubbing pads as well as cleaning brushes and supplies. Put labels on each of the drawers so you know exactly what's in them so you can keep it all organised.

6. Make your own nice storage boxes out of recycled boxes by covering them with contact paper. Just choose the colour and pattern you like the most and cover up the box with the sticky paper.

7. Organise belts, ties and scarves on a cooling rack that would be used for baking. Just attach the rack to the wall with hooks and hang all of your accessories on the wires.
