Preparing meals for yourself, family and friends is both one of the greatest joys and also one of the most time-consuming functions that we are faced with every single day! We all want to make the right choices, so the family is being fed nutritional and tasty foods.

There are a few things you can do to help with this never ending task.

Meal planning will make your life so much easier. Make a weekly calendar of what the food plan is going to be. Let other family members get involved with the thinking part of this. Likely they have their favorites, and you will want to make them. If you make a food plan for even one week, 7 full days, you can then just reuse that plan week after week, doing the plan seasonally to adjust to the foods that are in season and the climate as we all eat differently in the summer and winter.

Eating the same meal every 7th day may seem to often, so doing a 2-week plan may be better, but we are suggesting you start somewhere!

Plan the meals so it works into your busy schedule. Obviously if you have a full day of work, you are not going to have time to come home a cook a meal that takes you two hours! You are going to want to choose the appropriate meal for each day of the week.

Do your grocery shopping firstly, without the kids, secondly with a list, and thirdly when you are not tired or hungry yourself. Make a grocery list and stick to it. You have you game plan for the week.

In the food planning be sure to include fresh fruits and vegetables.

Always wash and prepare the vegetables when you get home and put them into containers with sealing lids. This will also make meal time a lot more fun.
