Here is a little history about the Kung Pao chicken. It is named after Ding Baozan (1820-86). He is a late Qing dynasty official and governor of Sichuan province. Kung pao chicken came from the Chinese word Kung po or gong bao which literally means Palace Guardian.
Kung Pao Chicken is a spicy stir-fry dish made with chicken, peanuts, vegetables and chili peppers. It originated from the Sichuan province of China. In the United States, Kung Pao chicken is heavily Americanized. Their version is gooey, greasy and sweet.
