The Deadly Chemical Lurking In Virtually All Of Our Food (And How To Avoid It)

Find Your Perfect ONLINE JOB

Did you know that there is a sinister deadly chemical lurking in virtually all of our food and that there are important steps you should be taking to avoid it? The culprit, known as the chemical BPA, is found in plastics and metal resin used in cans, and can be particularly detrimental to those of us who like to drink out of plastic bottles or eat canned food. The problem is that this chemical is "leached" of the containers by food and liquids stored inside them that get contaminated by the BPA chemical. Once this happens and a person eats or drinks from the plastic or can, the chemical can be ingested with potentially harmful consequences. The good news is that there are steps that people can take to reduce their BPA exposure and intake as well as new products on the market that offer BPA-free packaging that is healthier for our bodies to eat or drink from.

It seems that the world we live in is always developing new risks for consumers that we are only just becoming aware of, whether it be GMOs, hormones or added chemicals to food packaging. However, in the case of BPA the risk is very real, in fact experiments with lab rats eating BPA contaminated foods showed that they were far unhealthier and had a higher mortality rate compared to those eating non-BPA contaminated foods. It is also common sense that plastic does have chemicals that can be released by sunlight or other means into food and drink that makes it unhealthy for human consumption. I've known that drinking water from a plastic water bottle was harmful for quite some time.

Luckily, while many food and drink packaging may contain BPA, there are alternative brands that do not use BPA that you can find at many bulk purchase stores, as well as alternatives like using a metal reusable water bottle instead of a plastic one, which has the added benefit of reducing your carbon footprint at the same time. Hopefully in the future BPA in food and water containers will be banned, but in the meantime it pays to know how to reduce the presence of this harmful chemical in your food and water. Finally, you can freeze food, buy it fresh, and use stainless steel containers to further rid your body of this deadly chemical.
