If you have an ant problem, but you'd rather not use chemical insect repellents, check out these simple life hacks to get rid of ants the natural way. There are so many insect killing and deterring products out on the market which makes it so easy to just go out and buy a chemical filled product to spray around the home. While those chemicals do get rid of the bugs, they also wreak havoc on your health and can be toxic to your pets and the environment. So why not learn some natural remedies for getting rid of bugs, mainly ants. Ants aren't really too threatening; they don't bite usually. They're after one thing and one thing only, and that's food to bring back to their colonies. Ants are pretty smart, and they lay down a trail so that the other worker ants can follow behind, straight to the food source. Most likely, you'll find them stealing something sweet like your honey or a treat that's been left out. Other times they're just attracted to moisture so you can find them congregating around areas that have gotten damp. You can also find them in your garden, and sometimes they end up destroying your lawn or your plants.

So what are some of the natural remedies you can use to get rid of these ants? Well, one of the best natural remedies for ants is Borax. Borax is usually used in laundry to make your laundry detergent work better and to soften the water a bit if you have hard water. It's also used in other cleaning products, and it's environmentally friendly and biodegradable. You can find Borax in the cleaning aisle of the grocery store or big box stores, usually with all of the laundry soaps and fabric softeners. A box of Borax is really cheap too, and you can use it for your laundry and for cleaning as well as for these simple life hacks for getting rid of ants. So get your Borax, and place some of it in a shallow dish. Now ants will not be attracted to the Borax on its own, so you're going to have to add in something that will tempt and lure them in a bit more. Anything sugary will be sure to work. For this natural remedy, you'll be using honey mixed in with the Borax. You may want to melt your honey to make it easier for the Borax to combine with it. Stir until it's combined and you'll have the ant bait.

The ants will take the Borax honey mixture back to their colony which will kill all of the ants in the colony. If you need to use this trap outside, you can put the shallow dish of honey and Borax in a plastic container with holes in it. An old berry container will work. This will ensure that other animals won't get into it. It can be poisonous to humans and animals too when ingested, so it's important to keep it safe from them. You can see how this natural remedy works in the video as he shows the ants already all over the bait within minutes of placing it outside. You can also try to repel ants with a natural remedy consisting of mint essential oils in alcohol and water. Just drop about 20 drops of any mint essential oils you may have on hand, peppermint or spearmint into some water with a bit of rubbing alcohol in it. Then shake it up and spray it around the areas where the ants enter into the house.
