One great thing about this baked mozzarella cheese stick recipe is that you don't need a lot of ingredients to put them together, in fact, they are probably ingredients you already have in your refrigerator and pantry. If you have kids, you are likely to have the first ingredient on the list, and that is the mozzarella cheese string sticks. Then you will need some Italian seasoned breadcrumbs (you can even make your own if you have some leftover bread you want to use up), some panko breadcrumbs, and some grated Parmesan cheese. You will also need some seasonings, eggs, milk, all-purpose flour and a jarred Marinara sauce for dipping (you can also make this on your own if you have the time, otherwise purchase a jar of the premade stuff).

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and start cutting up the cheese sticks in half, which seems to be a good size. You can also make these smaller if you'd like, but this is a nice size for dipping. Then put some flour into a shallow bowl, or a pie plate. Get out a second bowl, and mix the eggs and the milk together. Then with a third bowl you can mix the Italian breadcrumbs, panko crumbs, Parmesan cheese, and seasonings together. Now take one of your mozzarella cheese sticks and roll it in the flour to coat it evenly. Then drop the floured cheese stick into the bowl of eggs to coat it with the egg mixture. Take the mozzarella stick and put it into the bread crumb mixture and coat it evenly. You might even choose to dip the mozzarella stick a second time into the egg mixture and the breadcrumbs again, so to properly seal the cheese within the mixture. You want the cheese stick to be extra crispy and the cheese not to leak out, so the second coat may help. Try a couple of different ways and see which you prefer.

You should have a baking pan with some parchment paper on it waiting to place the mozzarella sticks after coating. Now repeat all the steps, until you have all of the mozzarella sticks covered. Put the baking pan with the breaded mozzarella sticks into the freezer for at approximately an hour. This is a very important step, and you don't want to skip it! If you do miss this step, your mozzarella sticks will melt all over the place on the pan. Once the mozzarella sticks have been in the freezer for at least an hour, you can take the and brush or drizzle over them some melted butter. This will help the bread brown better because you are not deep frying them in the oil.
