Baking can sometimes be a daunting task, especially when you are out of practice or a complete beginner. But why not just try your baking skills on The Cheesecake Factory Original Cheesecake recipe from My Recipes? Cheesecake is known and loved in its many different adaptations around the world. It seems like every country has their own style of making it. The name New York Cheesecake can allude to it originating in New York, but this is actually false. The Cheesecake recipe originated long before New York even existed actually, and was first enjoyed in ancient Greece. The Greek people would indulge on this cake made with cheese and honey, served with fruits, much like we do these days, except our modern version is made with refined sugars and processed cheese, and theirs would have been actually quite fresh and natural. The cheesecake recipe was then adopted by the Romans, who took it on as their own recipe, and now in present day we can see the evolvement of cheesecake and how it differs in each culture. For example, British people tend to use shortbread cookies as a base instead of the graham cracker. In Italy, cheese cake is not made with cream cheese, it is made with ricotta, and is usually flavoured with natural lemon flavour.

Cream cheese is an American food item, so if other countries are using their local ingredients, they probably will not be using Philadelphia cream cheese. In American culture, we know cheesecake to be made with a simple mixture of silky smooth cream cheese, some sugar and some vanilla and eggs with a nice light graham cracker crust. This is the Cheesecake Factory style cheese cake everyone has come to know and love in North America. There is even a restaurant in the United States called the cheesecake factory, and they offer an abundance of cheesecake flavours that will blow your mind. This recipe is going to teach you exactly how to make their famous cheesecake recipe and we promise you, it is actually pretty simple. This cheesecake recipe has a special ingredient in it, sour cream, and there is also a topping that goes along with it that has some sour cream in it as well. To make this recipe, all you have to do is create a crust with some butter, graham crackers, and a nice little hint of cinnamon, which is something else I have never heard of having in a cheesecake, but it would taste lovely. Once the crust is pressed into a pan in goes the creamy cheese part of the cheesecake recipe. The cheesecake although served cold is baked for fifteen to twenty minutes in the oven and then refrigerated. For a classic cheesecake you can top with strawberries, which everyone loves and some of the sour cream topping. How delicious does that sound?!

The Cheesecake Factory was started up by Evelyn Overton in 1949 after she impressed one of her husband's boss. She ran the first Cheesecake Factory using her very own cheesecake recipes until 1950 when she wanted to stay home and raise her two children, but, she actually still made cheesecakes for local restaurants in the city of Detroit. Then, when her son grew older, he opened up a cafe in California where ten of her different flavoured cheesecakes were offered as desserts. The restaurant become incorporated in 1992 and now has more than one hundred locations, as well as international restaurants. So when you try out this recipe think of Evelyn and her amazing life of cheesecake!
